Cofiwch Dryweryn. Remember Tryweryn.

In 1965, the Tryweryn Valley was flooded by Liverpool City Council — drowning the Welsh-speaking community of Capel Celyn against the wishes of Wales. It remains one of the most defining moments in modern Welsh history, and a wound that has never fully healed.

In 1962, Meic Stephens painted "Cofiwch Tryweryn" onto a ruined cottage wall at Troed-y-Rhiw. The message has been restored, defaced, and restored again ever since. It endures. So does the memory.
