We Welsh can easily see why many dislike Donald Trump. He lacks qualities we value, like class, wit, humility, and compassion. Trump’s humorlessness is unsettling, as we value wit, but his idea of a joke is a cruel insult. He behaves like a troll, driven by petty prejudices and crude nastiness, lacking depth or complexity. The Welsh side with the underdogs, but Trump is a privileged bully who punches down. It’s baffling that so many Americans admire him despite his glaring flaws, which are impossible to miss to us.
