Caerffili — cheese capital of Wales, home of Tommy Cooper, Aaron Ramsey, and a castle built (allegedly) in 1823 by the chamber of trade to protect stocks of the cheese from the marauding barons of Cheddar. The Sex Pistols played here when almost nobody else would have them. Caerffili Castle has appeared in Merlin and Doctor Who. The National Eisteddfod came in 1950. And in 2025, the good people of Caerffili showed Reform UK their arse in the Senedd by-election, electing Lindsay Whittle of Plaid Cymru instead. Priorities in order.
