Pont y Cont - T-Shirt
The M4 Prince of Wales Bridge — formerly known as the Second Severn Crossing, a cable-stayed bridge connecting England and Wales across the River Severn, opened in 1996 to relieve pressure on the original Severn Bridge. In 2018 it was officially renamed the Prince of Wales Bridge in honour of the then Prince Charles, a man who had never driven across it and almost certainly never will.
We don’t agree with the name. Wales didn’t get a vote. So we’ve renamed it. Pont y Cont. It’s on the sign now. In our heads. Wear it with pride every time you cross into Wales and feel the spiritual weight of a nation lifting off your shoulders as the Severn disappears behind you.
