Llandudno — the queen of Welsh seaside resorts, and she knows it. A mecca for Daily Mail-reading pensioners in mobility scooters who have earned the right to go wherever they please at whatever speed they choose. A town where wild Kashmiri goats roam the streets with the absolute confidence of creatures who were here before the hotels and will be here after them. They have been known to eat garden furniture. Nobody stops them.

Lewis Carroll visited in 1861, was inspired by a local girl called Alice Liddell, and wrote Alice in Wonderland. Llandudno has not stopped mentioning this since. It has two beaches (West Shore for the goats, North Shore for everyone else), a Victorian pier, a promenade that makes you feel like you should be wearing a hat, a cable car up the Great Orme, and more ice cream shops than any town has a right to. It is, genuinely, brilliant.
