ABERHONDDU - Hoodie
ABERHONDDU — County town of Brycheiniog and gateway to Bannau Brycheiniog. The English call it Brecon, because Brycheiniog was too many syllables and they had places to be.
Brycheiniog was the kingdom of Brychan, who founded it. The English name is a bastardisation of the Welsh — Brycheiniog became Brecknok, then Brecon. So the English name exists purely because the English couldn't be bothered learning the Welsh pronunciation. Classic.
Aberhonddu sits where the river Honddu meets the Usk, surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery in Wales. The Beacons don't care what you call them.
Wear the real name. Aberhonddu am byth.
