Cardiff City Riverside FC - Hoodie
Before Cardiff City, there was Riverside AFC. Founded in 1899 by a group of cricketers looking for something to do in the winter months, they played their first matches on Sophia Gardens — a short punt from the River Taff that gave the club its name. No badge, no crest, no city status. Just a group of lads from Cardiff kicking a ball around and quietly starting something that would become one of the great clubs of Welsh football.
Riverside became Cardiff City in 1908, when Cardiff was granted city status and the club decided its name should reflect the occasion. The rest, as they say, is history — FA Cup finals, top-flight football, the only non-English club to lift the FA Cup. But it all started on the banks of the Taff with a cricket club that fancied a kickabout.
This hoodie celebrates those founding years: the Riverside era, before badges, before the Bluebird, before any of it. Just a club at the beginning of something remarkable.
