Llandaff-born Francis Lewis signed the Declaration of Independence for New York in 1776. Welsh expats founded the St David’s Society of New York in 1801. Dylan Thomas drank, wrote and became part of the city’s legend. Richard Burton conquered Broadway. Cardiff-born Howard Stringer went on to run CBS and Sony.

So, yes — New York may be American.

But there’s a fair bit of Cymru in it.
