Lots of Conts - Mug
The Welsh language has some unique names for animals, but one of the best known is the Welsh name for "jellyfish", which is "Cont y Môr", "Cont of the sea".... Contrary to popular belief, "cont" isn't a swear word; in Caernarfon, it's actually a term of endearment; you'll often be greeted with the phrase "iawn cont?" —"You ok, cont?"
We've extended the naming of the jellyfish to other popular animals you'll see in Wales: the chips-loving seagull, the fox who has an unhealthy interest in your bin bags, the squirrel who loves nuts, "cnau", the mole who ruins the farmer's field, "cae", the spider living in your bath, the wasp that hangs out by the bins, and the prickly hedgehog who makes a home in a pile of leaves, "dail".
