MACHYNLLETH - Hoodie
Machynlleth was originally called Penpaned but was renamed
Machynlleth in 1399 by Owain Glyndwr in order to deter the English from
attacking the site of the first Welsh Parliament he had established there. By
naming it Machynlleth it made it virtually impossible for English armies to ask
for directions to find it.
It is the location for an annual comedy festival which have
seen some of the biggest comedy talents perform there, and Tudur Owen.
Known colloquially, locally, as Mach because the locals are too lazy to say the “ynlleth”.
