A Welsh community has existed in Manchester since the 16th century. By 1892, there were 80,000 Welsh-born residents in the Northwest of England, with particularly high concentrations in Manchester and Liverpool. David Lloyd George was born in the city. Welsh socialist Robert Jones Derfel spent much of his life there.
The Gallagher brothers own a caravan in Talacre and can often be seen at weekends playing the bandits in local arcades.
