Mickey Thomas v Arsenal 1992 - T-Shirt
The 1991–92 FA Cup third-round match between Wrexham and
Arsenal was played at the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham on 4 January 1992. The
previous season, Arsenal had topped the league as champions, whilst Wrexham
finished bottom of Division 4. 92 places had separated the two sides at the end
of that season.
Arsenal went 1-0 up just before half-time through an Alan
Smith goal, and with eight minutes remaining, Mickey Thomas lined up a free
kick, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Two minutes later, Steve Watkin scored the winner, and one
of the biggest FA Cup upsets in history was placed in the annals of history.
